Educators create a learner-focused environment for students of all backgrounds and experiences. This program works to increase healthy relationships among teens and young adults, positive adolescent development, and to reduce pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. PREP provides a no-cost, discussion-based course, open to people aged 14-19 years, or up to 21 years old if pregnant and/or parenting. Parental consent is required for participation. What is PREP Manchester? The PREP curriculum emphasizes social and emotional skills as key components of healthy relationships and responsible decision making. STIs (sexually transmitted infections) and STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) are basically the same thing! So, why do people sometimes say “infection” instead of “disease”? The word “disease” can make people think of a visual problem, but a lot of STDs don’t have any signs or symptoms – they’re an infection that you might not see. That’s why it’s so important to get screened if you are sexually active. That way, your doctor can help you if you need it. Learn more about STDs: STDs and STIs from GirlsHealth.gov. HOW DO I GET STDs? STDs are caused by bacteria, viruses, and even tiny insects! You can get a STD by having sexual contact with someone who has one. Sexual contact can mean intercourse or putting your mouth, hands, or genitals on someone else’s genitals. Remember, even if they can’t get pregnant, women who have sex with women are also at risk for STDs. WHAT ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF STDs? Bacterial Vaginosis Chlamydia Congenital Syphilis Genital Herpes Gonorrhea Herpes genital Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) Syphilis Trichomoniasis WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET A STD? STDs are all different. Some can be treated and cured. But you can still get the STD again if you have sex—especially unprotected sex—with an infected person. Ask your provider about treatments for your partner, otherwise you could give each other the infection back and forth. Some STDs can’t be cured, but you can help manage the symptoms. There are also a few STDs that can be life threatening without treatment. BACK TO TOP CONDOM DO'S AND DON'TS DO use a condom every time you have sex. DO put on a condom before having sex. DO read the package and check the expiration date. DO make sure there are no tears or defects. DO store condoms in a cool, dry place. DO use latex or polyurethane condoms. DO use water-based or silicone-based lubricant to prevent breakage. DON’T store condoms in your wallet as heat and friction can damage them. DON’T use nonoxynol-9 (a spermicide), as this can cause irritation. DON’T use oil-based products like baby oil, lotion, petroleum jelly, or cooking oil because they will cause the condom to break. DON’T use more than one condom at a time. DON’T reuse a condom.   • Youth Wellness & Prevention Partnership | Amoskeag Health

    MANCHESTER YOUTH WELLNESS AND PREVENTION COLLABORATIVE Amoskeag Health is proud to partner with Makin' It Happen, the YMCA of Greater Manchester, and the Boys and Girls Club of Manchester to offer the Botvin LifeSkills program to at-risk youth in our community. This evidence-based program, led by trained facilitators, teaches young people important life skills to help them make healthier choices and reduce risky behaviors. Makin' It Happen also coordinates the Substance Use and Mental Health Prevention Collaborative, a group of community partners who meet monthly to explore new ways to expand prevention programs in Manchester. These partners are key to the success of the Botvin LifeSkills program, playing a vital role in its implementation. Amoskeag Health has also teamed up with Catalyst Evaluation Group, experts in data collection and evaluation. A : A Board of Directors is a group of people from the community that helps “govern” (give guidance and oversight) to organizations like Amoskeag Health. 2 Q: Do I get paid for this? A : Board members do not get paid for volunteering. 3 Q: What do Board Members have to do? A : Board Members come to a Board meeting on the first Tuesday of every month at 5:00 PM for about an hour. Board Members may also join a special committee of the Board that meet at a different time and discuss topics like personnel, marketing, or finance that helps strengthen the organization's mission. 4 Q: Do I qualify? A : To become a Board Member, you need the desire to help your community! You must live or work in Manchester. We love if you are a patient, or the parent or guardian of a patient at Amoskeag H ealth, who has had a visit within the last two years. You must be at least 18 years old. You cannot be related to anyone on staff. You must keep all the information from the meetings confidential. If you meet these criteria, we will meet with you for an interview, and if it seems like a good match, we will recommend your nomination to our Board for a vote. 5 Q: How long can you be on the Board of Directors? A : Board members are asked to commit for a three-year “term” (period of time) to a Board of Directors role. If the member really likes it, they can serve up to three “terms” of three years each, but only one term is required.

Refill Coordinators at Amoskeag Health manage patient prescription refills and enroll qualified patients who lack prescription drug coverage into medication assistance programs to help patients find the lowest cost for select medications. Amoskeag Health Low-Cost Formulary: This program is available at the Walgreens locations in Manchester and Hooksett . Patients must have an Amoskeag Health discount card that is not expired that they MUST show to the pharmacist to confirm they are eligible for the Amoskeag Health Low-Cost Formulary. This program is limited to the medications listed on the formulary. Low-Cost Prescription Program At Amoskeag Health, we support your physical and mental health. We understand the challenges to navigate housing, medical insurance, and access to affordable food and services. That's why we have dedicated case managers who can help you. If you qualify, case managers can help you access a variety of public benefits, including: TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families: a time-limited program providing basic financial assistance to help families get back on their feet) WIC (Women, Infants, and Children: a program that ensures proper nutrition for mothers and their children) Food stamps Medicaid Unemployment Social Security Additionally , case managers can help patients apply for rental assistance or public housing/section 8 and connect them with NH Legal during any suspected housing discrimination.     LEADERSHIP Patrick Curtin Chief Financial Officer Patrick Curtin is an accomplished healthcare executive and turnaround CFO known for stabilizing complex organizations, strengthening revenue cycle performance, and building high-trust, mission-driven teams. With more than a decade of progressive leadership experience across Federally Qualified Health Centers, rural health systems, and acute care hospitals, Patrick brings a unique blend of financial strategy, operational excellence, and deep community commitment. Patrick currently serves as Chief Financial Officer at Amoskeag Health, following his tenure as Chief Financial Officer at Lowell Community Health Center. In these roles, he has led financial management, revenue cycle operations, compliance, and multi-year strategic planning. He is widely recognized for his ability to quickly assess organizational challenges, restore financial clarity, and implement strong, patient-centered systems. Throughout his career, he has overseen major revenue cycle transformations, HRSA compliance initiatives, large capital projects, payer contracting improvements, and enterprise-wide cash-flow remediation efforts. Patrick earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Merrimack College, a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Boston College, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Research in Gerontology from UMass Boston. He is currently completing his Doctor of Healthcare Administration, focusing his dissertation on insurance design and access to care. In addition, Patrick is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and holds several professional certifications from HFMA. We offer support to help you access medical appointments and other essential services, ensuring you get the care you need without transportation barriers. TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE Amoskeag Health offers transportation coordination services for qualifying patients. Appointments must be scheduled between Monday-Friday 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Our Transportation Coordinator works with patients to identify transportation options for medical visits when transportation assistance is needed. Who qualifies for this service?
