  • Youth Wellness & Prevention Partnership | Amoskeag Health

    MANCHESTER YOUTH WELLNESS AND PREVENTION COLLABORATIVE Amoskeag Health is proud to partner with Makin' It Happen, the YMCA of Greater Manchester, and the Boys and Girls Club of Manchester to offer the Botvin LifeSkills program to at-risk youth in our community. This evidence-based program, led by trained facilitators, teaches young people important life skills to help them make healthier choices and reduce risky behaviors. Makin' It Happen also coordinates the Substance Use and Mental Health Prevention Collaborative, a group of community partners who meet monthly to explore new ways to expand prevention programs in Manchester. These partners are key to the success of the Botvin LifeSkills program, playing a vital role in its implementation. Amoskeag Health has also teamed up with Catalyst Evaluation Group, experts in data collection and evaluation. With a career spanning senior leadership roles—including Chief Human Resources Officer for the Vermont State Colleges System and HR leadership positions at Brown University, Clinton Community College, and Champlain College—she has driven transformational initiatives in organizational design, talent acquisition, employee relations, cultural competency development, and system-wide process modernization. Sarah is known for guiding complex mergers, implementing equitable job classification and compensation systems, coaching senior leaders, and building innovative HR programs that strengthen engagement and operational effectiveness. A : A Board of Directors is a group of people from the community that helps “govern” (give guidance and oversight) to organizations like Amoskeag Health. 2 Q: Do I get paid for this? A : Board members do not get paid for volunteering. 3 Q: What do Board Members have to do? A : Board Members come to a Board meeting on the first Tuesday of every month at 5:00 PM for about an hour. Board Members may also join a special committee of the Board that meet at a different time and discuss topics like personnel, marketing, or finance that helps strengthen the organization's mission. 4 Q: Do I qualify? A : To become a Board Member, you need the desire to help your community! You must live or work in Manchester. We love if you are a patient, or the parent or guardian of a patient at Amoskeag H ealth, who has had a visit within the last two years. You must be at least 18 years old. You cannot be related to anyone on staff. You must keep all the information from the meetings confidential. If you meet these criteria, we will meet with you for an interview, and if it seems like a good match, we will recommend your nomination to our Board for a vote. 5 Q: How long can you be on the Board of Directors? A : Board members are asked to commit for a three-year “term” (period of time) to a Board of Directors role. If the member really likes it, they can serve up to three “terms” of three years each, but only one term is required.
